The Kind Diet Book By Alicia Silverstone

The Kind Diet Book By Alicia Silverstone

The top cookbooks of the last DECADE have been picked by PCRM (a committee of doctors) and you might be surprised at the results. Or maybe not!

In no particular order, below is a sampling of the cookbooks deemed as most healthy and lest healthy. By certified doctors!

Best Cookbooks – Conscious Cook by Tal Ronnen, The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone, Vegan Soul Kitchen by Bryant Terry.

Worst Cookbooks – Kitchen Classics by Paula Deen, Atkins The Complete Cookbook by Atkins, “Kill It And Grill” It by Ted Nugent.

It should come as no surprise on the Paula Deen book. I would go a step further and say ANY Paula Deen cookbook should be treated as heart-attack inducing material. lol. We all know this, but she is entertaining. Just wished she wouldn’t peddle such malarkey.

I don’t have Alicia’s book, but its definitely on my “must have” list. If you have it, weigh in below on what recipes you like?

February 17th, 2009

Vegan activist queen Alicia Silverstone has officially started her third role at the eco-friendly Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA.

Alicia returned to the theater for the world premiere of Time Stands Still by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Donald Margulies.

Directed by Tony award-winner Daniel Sullivan, Time Stands Still is chock full of socio-political issues yet is, in essence, the love story of two juxtaposed couples. One couple is comprised of two journalists struggling with their return to domesticity after visiting the war torn Middle East. In contrast, the other is a couple sorting through their own internal chaos.

Filled with complexity, emotion and surprising humor, Time Stands Still also features Anna Gunn (Deadwood), David Harbour (Revolutionary Road, Quantum of Solace) and Robin Thomas (Murphy Brown).

The theater is in the heart of Westwood Village and close to award-winning vegetarian restaurants including Native Foods. For an added treat Geffen Playhouse teams up with California organic, sustainable vineyards for wine-tasting on Sundays, beginning on February 15.

The show which has already started at the Geffen Playhouse ends March 15th. For more info or to buy tickets visit Geffen Playhouse.
