Have You Heard About Matt’s Munchies?

I received an email last month alerting me to a new vegetarian product called Matt’s Munchies. And samples were sent to me.

Matt's Munchies (Apple Pie Flavor)

Matt's Munchies (Apple Pie Flavor)

Matt’s Munchies are all natural vegan fruit roll ups made in New York by catering company Chef Robert’s.

The fruit snack is:

  • dairy-free
  • soy-free
  • nut-free
  • egg-free
  • gluten-free
  • low calorie
  • Kosher
  • all natural
  • certified VEGAN

I received some samples in the mail and in the package were several flavors including Mango, Banana, Choco Mama, Ginger Zest, Island Mango, and Apple Pie.

Each flavor comes in its own package and inside are about 6 strips – these aren’t really rolled up. Each fruit strip is flat. As one opens the package the flavor really stands out. The texture is smooth but firm.

I tried each flavor and my favorite Matt Munchie’s is Apple Pie. Yummo! Aside from the fact that it got stuck to the roof of my mouth – like all fruit roll ups do – the texture, smell, and fruitiness was snacky good.

I give them a groovy thumbs up.

If you’re looking for a healthy LOW CALORIE afternoon cruelty-free snack give Matt’s Munchies a try.

  1. Going to look into them, should be at Whole Foods.

Hi, Michael: I don’t think they (Matt’s Munchies) are available at Whole Foods just yet. Will check and get back to you. Glad you like though.

I picked up the ginger and apple pie flavors last week from Health Nuts last week when I was on Long Island for their marathon. They’re MUCH better than normal store bought fruit leathers! Of the two I bought I preferred the ginger, but I like ginger and I’m still going thru withdrawal from the no longer vegan Green&Blacks ginger chocolate bars (I think I’m gonna have to start making my own).

Why’d you not provide the weblink to them?

The bad news is they’re EXPENSIVE! I’m still likely to buy them when I’m out and about in Manhatten etc as a quick snack, but at home I still prefer my own homemade ones (blueberry tarragon is killer).

I forgot to mention that they aren’t at Whole Paycheck yet, but if you aren’t in NY you can order them from his site and also see a list of stores that carry them.

    Hey, Brivari:

Thanxs for sharing. Yes anyone interested can grab some Matt’s Munchies via their website. But they do sell at various retail outlets as well, mostly in New York. Oh! and i did provide a link to their website – it’s entitled Matt’s Munchies.

But below is the link to their retail locations page:

Hmm, Opera must not like the inline link, I just double checked and nothing clicks. :(

I’m almost surprised that Mrs. Greens (east of NYC health chain) doesn’t carry them since he’s got so many Long Island stores and Westchester is just across the sound. But Westchester isn’t exactly known for being veg (or health food) friendly.

I also noticed (while double checking that he’s not on this side of the city) that the price on his website is MUCH better than what I paid at Health Nuts! They had little packages for almost $4 each (maybe one ounce?). 6oz for $11 is much more reasonable.

  7. They sound great – shame we can’t get them in the UK yet.

I am always looking out for snacks that are reduced in carbs/calories as I am pre-diabetic.
