No matter what that person did its their right and the prisons responsibility to feed that person. Sorry but you won't last long with a 5 year sentence and all you can eat is broccoli. As a vegan I would fully expect to be offered an alternative if I was ever incarcerated. And I am glad that the man got sent to a vegan friendly jail. Plus a vegan probably isn't going to jail for anything bad... Unless you think standing up for animals who are innocent and defenceless is a criminal offence. They don't need to be catering to everyone's individual needs. If a prisoner doesn't want to eat the meatloaf, they should be allowed to take extra broccoli.
