The latest and greatest from Lightlife, are vegetarian chicken cordon melts. These look abit like (veggie) chicken tenders but instead they are filled with veggie ham and cheesy sauce.
These would be found in the frozen aisle, along other veggie products like Morningstar or Boca. In my small town of Winona, MS my local grocers do not carry Lightlife, well not this particular variety. Which is too bad! I want to try them.
Check out the ingredient and nutrient profile below:
- Calories = 210
- Fat = 8 grams
- Cholesterol = 0
- Sodium = 700 mg
- Potassium = 280 mg
- Fiber = 3 grams
- Protein – 21 grams
As you can see, the Vegetarian Chik’n Cordon Melts are abit high in sodium, but overall another great veggie product from Lightlife. Good source of protein, potassium, and a tad of fiber mixed in. I’m sure these taste good, too.
What are they made of?
In case you’re wondering what they are made of (since they are meat-free) these are soy based. Also the veggie cordon melts are not vegan, as they contain eggs and milk.

[...] (who ate all the pies?) is loosing weight. Now I won’t be doing anything crazy like eating vegetarian chicken cordon melts, but I will drink some Dominion Oak Barrel Stout as it sounds like a real slimming stout! No point [...]
This looks delicious, but the sodium levels are way too high for me.
I heard recently the government was looking into regulating the sodium levels in our foods, and I hope they follow through with this!

I’m not a vegetarian, but I could definitely sink my teeth into that. It looks delicious!!! And healthy, even better.

Hi—Bratling: The sodium levels are not really that bad, it probably depends on what you compare them to. Thanxs for your visit and the comment. Come again.
Hi—Bryan: Hey, nice to see you here. I know you’re a busy dude. I dont know about healthy, but the most important thing to me about the melts, is that they are meat-free. (but they definitely are a good source of protein @ 21grams)
See ya around the interweb. (hehe)
You have a very nice blog, good post…keep up the good job
This looks really good. It is so hard to find time to cook new vegetarian meals. I like options like boca and morning star, and this will just add to easy and conveneint vegetarian options! Thanks for the great information
The recipe is really tongue tingling. As Missy suggests, Sodium level is not that much alarming. Any how this recipe will definitely add extra pounds to my belly… he he he…

These looks so delicious! I haven’t seen them at my local grocery store though…
Don’t be fooled into thinking these highly processed nuggets have made it to your grocer’s freezer without consuming animal lives. Consider the amazing amount of animal habitat that has been cleared around to make way for acres of soy beans in the last decades. Making the choice to be a vegetarian is a positive environmental step, but one must begin to eat locally to eat humanely. Living necessarily takes life. We must all recognize biological fact and work to consume in the most sustainable fashion. “Vegetarian Chicken Cordon Melts from Lightlife” are surely not the answer.
