Elderly dogs in Tokyo, Japan will have a nursing home to retire to, as Soladi Care Home for Pets, is a new concept created by veterinarians to care for older dogs who need extra care and TLC as they age.
The home will hold up to 20 dogs at a time, will be fed specially fortified meals, and will have the added bonus of playing with younger pooches, as the vets bring them in because they feel it makes the old dogs feel younger. The population of older dogs has increased alot in Japan due to better healthcare, better diets, and increased pet ownership.
I only wish there were more homes like this available.

This does sound like a good idea for dogs that need extra attention, although I might argue that the best place for an older pooch is at home with his/her family that they grew up with. Having loved ones around is what I would want, so I think my dog feels the same way!
It’s always tough to manage when you have a dog which is past it’s days…problem is there are barely enough nursing homes for adults…can we justify this?
